Steve Mesure BSc CSci CPhys MInstP FRSA
Steve founded Floating Point Science Theatre in 1987 and continues to work on
science theatre productions at home and abroad.
He is a recipient of the IoP Public Understanding of Physics Award and the RS/BA
Millennium Award, a member of the EPSRC Peer Review College, the Sciencewise
Panel, a QCA Associate Consultant and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Steve has:
Taught science communication to science communicators, teachers and students. He
has been a science engagement consultant for NESTA, COPUS, Creative Partnerships,
ASE, Science Year, LEAs, PAL, EPSRC and PPARC.
Lectured and taught teachers, students and science communicators in Azerbaijan,
Bangladesh, China, Croatia, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand,
Romania, Russia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey and Ukraine as well as at many institutions
and theatres around the UK.
Been involved in the creation and execution of five major Youth Science Theatre Projects:
Wellcome Trust's 'Science CentreStage'
The Cheltenham Festival of Science's 'Science on Stage'
Cheltenham's 'Massive' project for two years;
Liverpool University's 'Magic of Machines and Materials' and 'Science Journeys'
Directed three of PAL's (Performing Arts Lab's) Creative Science Teaching Labs, EPSRC's
'Engineering Ideas Factory' and courses for the National Science Learning Centre.
Developed, with Creative Partnerships, a Creative Science Springboard providing all
teachers with 'I Wonder' packs.
Commissioned by NESTA to pilot a new method of building capacity within the entire
science engagement community; 'Creative Science Engagement Network Development
and Origination' (CreScENDO)
Published article in the Association Science Education's EiS (Education in Science)
publication September 2005 entitled 'Creativity in Science'
